The feast of the health is a typical venetian feast which involves a religious celebration of the Madonna.

Together with the festival of the Redeemer, the feast of the health celebrates the end of a terrible plague epidemic, the one in 1631. For this occasion the Doge pronounced this date a day for everyone to express gratitude to the Madonna for curing the plague.

From that moment every year on the 21st November from the altar of the Chiese della Salute (Church of the Health) gratitude is being expressed to the Madonna for the given health.
